Dry-dock visit at GMC Yard

YoungShip Stavanger visited GMC Yard where the grand Skandi Africa was in dry-dock.

GMC Yard invited Youngship Stavanger for a tour on the yard and had made arrangements with DOF ASA's Skandi Africa for Youngship to get a full tour of the vessel. The grand Skandi Africa is a highlight in the Norwegian fleet and was voted "Ship of the yeard 2015" when it was finished at Vard Søviknes. It was great to get an in-dept guided tour with Captain Melingen.

Thank You to both GMC Yard and Skandi Africa, there were alot of happy Youngshippers that evening.

FreiXchange & Bluelice

FreiXchange & Bluelice shared their experiences, challenges and history as start up businesses in front of a excited Youngship Stavanger crowd this week.

We were so lucky to get the busy Sigmund Kyvik from FreiXchange and Karoline Sjødal Olsen from Bluelice to share their experiences, challenges and history as start-up businesses. The event was fully booked!

While FreiXchange has already developed a tool to make the freight market more effective, Bluelice is in the process of developing a device to solve the salmon lice problem in the fish farming industry. Though they are both start ups, they are in different phases, markets and with different challenges to solve! It was so great to hear from these two and we wish them all the best!

There are rumors that the evening did not end early..

See you!

Visit to the FPSO Petrojarl Varg

Exclusive tour onboard the impressive FPSO Petrojarl Varg

This week, YoungShip Stavanger invited their members to an exclusive tour onboard the FPSO Petrojarl Varg, owned and operated by Teekay Offshore. The FPSO has been located at the Varg field for 18 years and have produced far beyond the original estimates for the field. Now, the vessel is at the quay of Rosenberg, waiting for its next endeavor.

The group of lucky YoungShippers were given a thorough tour onboard with the Varg Site Manager who has served onboard for almost two decades, and could share of his vast experience with the vessel. While walking by the production plant, utilities, accommodation, workshops and machinery, stories were shared and the equipment and operation explained.

YoungShip Stavanger would like to thank the Varg Site Team and Teekay Offshore for giving us an unique first-hand experience with an FPSO. Best of luck with the next life phase of the beautiful lady!
