YoungShip Dubai recieved the 2015 Next Generation Shipping Award during Lloyd's Liste Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards!

The board of YoungShip Dubai has created a valuable arena for networking and knowledge sharing for all young maritime professionals based in, or visiting, Dubai.
On 29 October, YoungShip Oslo and Liskow & Lewis hosted a professional and social event at Vérité located at urban Aker Brygge in Oslo. USA based law firm, Liskow & Lewis made a much appreciated stop in Oslo on their visit to Europe, and lectured eager YoungShip members on Marine Prosecution Processes.
The venue served as the arena for this year’s Young Corporation Award ceremony. Last year’s award winner Gard, was represented by Senior Vice President Svein Buvik, who announced the winner of Young Corporation Award 2015.

As an organisation for young professionals, YoungShip recognise that a vast number of companies already walk the extra mile to promote young talents though trainee programs, international assignments and exciting career opportunities. To promote these companies and young professionals in the maritime industry, YoungShip International has decided to launch an annual Young Corporation Award. It is to be awarded to a company within the international maritime industry, which has excelled at one or more of the following criteria:
Young maritime executives from all over Norway, has during the past months have nominated their candidates, resulting in a prestigious short-list. This year’s nominees are well-recognized companies within their segments and the top three candidates selected by the jury are Lorentzen & Stemoco, Teekay Shipping and TP Shipping.
We are proud to announce that Lorentzen & Stemoco is this year’s winner of YoungShip International’s Young Corporation Award.
On Friday November 6th, the YoungShip Rotterdam seminar, Key success factors to kick-start your career, will be hosted at Ahoy during the Europort event. At the seminar, young maritime professionals and employers will have an open discussion on how to start a career in the maritime industry. As keynote speaker Arnout Damen, COO Damen Shipyards Group, will elaborate on what he sees as important key features in determining a successful career.
Following this, our panel members from various segments in the maritime industry will hold an open discussion to identify key success factors in kick-starting a promising career in the industry. The Panel members include crewing specialist Arwin den Ouden, shipbroker Alain Grotenhuis and Frederic Løvenskiold, currently in his first year as management trainee. Further panel members are to be confirmed. The moderator of this session is Coen Bouhuys, a master student of Maritime Engineering and a former Young Maritime Representative.
The YoungShip seminar is a part of the Europort event organised in the world port city of Rotterdam between 3rd and 6th of November. The event is an international meeting place for innovative technology and complex shipbuilding and runs in parallel with the annual Maritime week from 2nd to 7th of November. The main goal of both events is to promote the maritime industry.
From the early establishment in Bergen, YoungShip has experienced a booming growth. Today, YoungShip provides access to 2,500 young members in 16 central maritime clusters spread all over the globe. The Rotterdam branch was established in November 2014 and has proven to be a suitable platform for equally minded maritime professionals and students to come together.

The top three candidates selected by the jury are Gard, Robert Allen Ltd. and DOF.
We have a pleasure to announce that Gard is the winner of the YoungShip Young Corporation Award 2014! The award was given during this year’s international YoungShip conference ShipCon that took place in Ålesund on the 26th of September. The ceremony was combined with the opening of the GCE BLUE Maritime annual conference.
The jury statement:
“The 2014 winner of the Young Corporation Award are promoting it`s young leaders through internal involvement in decision making and change processes. The young leaders are targeted and developed through a one year leadership development program before they take upon their leadership role. After that they are challenged, supported and promoted by their line management in cooperating with the company`s internal Academy.
With a business model and commitment to employee development and training, the employees are given the opportunity to world-class expertise, international experience and flexibility to move between disciplines and roles.
This year`s winner of the Young Corporation Award offers a 12-month trainee programme designed to offer graduates and young professionals the opportunity to gain an understanding of the industry through placements in each of its departments, and in their offices around the world, enabling the employee to build a strong network throughout the organisation. The graduates follow a training and development programme, which includes a combination of lectures, seminars and practical assignments, as well as the opportunity to attend a range of internal and external training courses.
This year`s winner established the Claes Isacson Scholarship for maritime education in 2013. This scholarship, which is awarded annually, helps young people to finance an education at university level. They also have a “best student“ prize, which is awarded to the student achieving the highest mark in the study of Carriage of Goods by Sea at the Institute of Maritime Law, University of Southampton.
For the past three years, the winner of the Young Corporation Award has supported the World Maritime University through a sponsorship aiming to educate students from developing countries within the maritime industry. They have also played a key role in supporting their local Youngship branch over several years.
The importance of the young employees in the company becomes apparent through the words of the Managing Director: “We need to make sure we are able to retain and recruit talented people and through our sponsorships, we are able to share knowledge and expertise among the wider shipping community.
