On 8 September 2026, we were delighted to officially launch YoungShip Switzerland in Geneva, bringing together professionals from across Switzerland’s shipping, maritime, commodity trading, logistics, finance, legal, insurance, sustainability and technology sectors.
The evening marked an important milestone in the creation of a new community dedicated to supporting and connecting the next generation of maritime professionals in Switzerland.
YoungShip Switzerland was founded with a simple ambition: to create opportunities for young professionals to build meaningful connections, learn from industry experts, expand their networks, and develop their careers within the wider maritime ecosystem. As part of the global YoungShip network, which spans more than 40 chapters worldwide, our members will benefit from both a strong local community and access to an international network of maritime professionals.
As the Board of YoungShip Switzerlqand, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special occasion. The enthusiasm, encouragement, and engagement shown throughout the evening reinforced the importance of creating a platform that brings together talented professionals from across our industry.
A special thank you goes to our international guests, including representatives from YoungShip France, YoungShip Cyprus, YoungShip Italy, as well as to the team from YoungShip International, whose support and guidance have been invaluable throughout our journey.
We are also deeply grateful to our founding sponsors, Cargill, Aderco, and Promar, as well as our corporate sponsor, Filhet-Allard Maritime, whose trust and support helped transform this idea into reality.
We would also like to thank Mr Michael Kleiner, Economic Affairs Officer for the Republic and Canton of Geneva, for joining us, and the Commodity Trading and Shipping Club at the University of St. Gallen, particularly Giovanni Lovagnoni, for their support and participation in the event.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who has already become part of the YoungShip Switzerland story. From our founding board members to our first members and supporters, this association has been built through the collective efforts of people who believe in the value of a strong and welcoming maritime community.
This launch is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we look forward to hosting networking events, members-only gatherings, industry discussions, and professional development opportunities. We are also excited to expand our presence beyond Geneva, with a local hub in Zug planned in the near future.
To everyone who attended, supported, sponsored, encouraged, or helped shape this initiative: thank you. We look forward to building the future of YoungShip Switzerland together.
