Today YoungShip Rotterdam has announced the dates, themes, and additional details of Shipcon 2021, the only maritime event shaped by young professionals, for young professionals, which will be delivered in a hybrid format for the first time ever in the events history.
The event will be comprised of two elements, a conference track spanning some 16 hours of content, across 15+ sessions featuring over 30 speakers from across the maritime industry and a experiential event element.
The conference element will be delivered entirely online allowing Shipcon 2021to reach the broadest global audience ever possible. Spread over five nights, each “day” of the event will only last two hours to minimize the digital fatigue for participants.
The conference element will focus in on three main conference tracks providing a dynamic mix of presentations, panel discussions, workshops, interactive elements, and learning initiatives all designed to engage participants.
In combination with the events main themed tracks, Shipcon 2021 will feature a “hackathon” styled hybrid experiential element where teams will compete to pitch the best solution to one of three sustainability challenges.
Shipcon 2021 is the maritime industries only event shaped by young maritime professionals, for young maritime professionals. Conceived by YoungShip International in 2015, it has grown year-on-year. Each year, a different chapter of YoungShip is awarded the privilege of hosting Shipcon with Rotterdam receiving the privilege in 2020.
However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was cancelled for 2020 and shifted to 2021 and given the uncertainty of the ongoing, and varied pandemic recoveries, YoungShip has taken the decision to offer the event in a hybrid form for the first time ever.
While the event has been shaped to appeal to young maritime professionals, the learning and engagement elements are equally interesting for those looking to understand the mindsets of the future of the maritime industry and where it is headed and older individuals as well as those who are young at heart are encouraged to participate.
Shipcon 2021 will be held with both digital elements as well as in-person elements where possible given local Covid-19 related restrictions at the time of the event.
YoungShip Rotterdam, The Netherlands based chapter of YoungShip International, provides networking, learning, and community engagement opportunities for young maritime professionals in the Rotterdam area. Founded in 2004 in Norway, YoungShip International has grown steadily over the past 16 years with over 3,000 global members.
