WORLD CLEANUP DAY- SEPT 15TH 2018

YOUNG SHIP TANZANIA is so excited to be one of the biggest NGO's to host WORLD CLEANUP DAY On 15 September in Tanzania In collaboration with NIPE FAGIO & 4OCEAN. volunteers and partners worldwide will come together to rid our planet of trash – cleaning up litter and mismanaged waste from our beaches, rivers, forests, and streets. World Cleanup Day harnesses the power of everyday people to achieve incredible things by joining together. Its beauty lies in cooperation and collaboration: building bridges between disparate communities, and including all levels of society - from citizens, to business, to government.

There are more than 10 000 people cleaning in Tanzania today across an area of 900 000 km. As there is only one official dump station in Tanzania, they have ran out of dump trucks. So all of the trash which is cleaned up today, needs to be taken to one certain point with a very limited amount of dump trucks. You can only imagine how hard could the organizing of the logistics be as people are cleaning the country across 900 000 km.

Luckily they have found a lot private trucks which are helping to take the garbage to the dump station. What an awesome way to contribute in this epic event by locals! Local leader from Tanzania Ana is really enthusiastic and looks these logistic challenges as a part of the journey!

“We can happily say that there are many sportsmen and especially runners cleaning up Tanzania and local government is supporting and participating as well. Tanzania is a good example how to turn obstacles in to opportunities,” said Ana Rocha.
