YoungShip Stavanger hosted an interesting event with Westcon Power & Automation on the 22nd of March.
The presentation covered hybrid solutions for offshore vessels, with learnings from the first ship in the world with batteries as an active part of their DP configuration, namely the PSV Viking Energy. After almost a year in operation, the experience shows significant fuel savings, especially during DP operations. It will be very exciting to follow this development further in years to come.
The event gathered some twenty young professionals from ship and rig owners, oil majors, ship equipment providers, Norwegian regulatory bodies etc.
